Barnes & Noble: Georgia Tech Campus

Kamryn and I were desperately looking for something to do today so we ended up at Barnes & Noble on Georgia Tech Campus. Normally, we visit the Little 5 Points location (review coming soon) but since this one was so close to home, we opted to walk here instead of driving to Moreland Avenue. This was our first time visiting this location specifically for her so I was unfamiliar with their area for children's books. Before I start my review, I will add the disclaimer:
This is a university campus. I did not expect it to be as child friendly as some of the other Barnes & Nobles we have visited.
I immediately loved the atmosphere when we walked into the doors. Like most Barnes & Nobles, it was connected to a Starbucks so the smell of the coffee was definitely a plus for me. Unfortunately, we were not greeted by the person at the register which was a bit of a disappointment. I will admit, I am a bit of a snob when it comes to customer service so I love going to places where the reps actually look like they like their jobs. The children's section was straight to the back and it had about what I expected for this location. There were two small tables and four chairs which was perfect because it meant we could sit down and enjoy our books. There was one very large bookshelf stocked with a decent collection of books to choose from. We chose five books to read and stayed for about an hour. I was able to read aloud to Kamryn without feeling uncomfortable or getting any stares from any of the coworkers or other patrons.
As a mom, this location was 2 out of 5 stars for me. I did not mind the smallness of the children's area. I liked the selection of books but did not like the prices. Most of the books were severely overpriced. Almost every book I picked up was priced around $17.99 which is quite steep for a children's book so it limited our trip to only reading instead of buying. The closeness was the biggest positive to me. For moms who live in the vacinity of Georgia Tech, it was a nice way to sneak in a short walk for exercise. Otherwise, it may be hard to access because parking is limited and most parking requires you to pay at a meter.
The ultimate reason for the low rating is the safety hazard. Right under the children's bookshelf is an exposed outlet and cords. Definitely not something you would want your child grabbing or sticking their fingers in.
I will go back in a couple of days to see if they have fixed this problem. Hopefully so because I would love to go back and visit again. Have you been to this Barnes & Nobles? I would love to hear your thoughts on it below.
