Christmas is just two days away! The last minute to-do lists are endless. With all the demands of the holidays it is very easy to forget the true meaning of the season. This year I was determined to make "less-consumer" memories with my family and teach my very young children the importance of giving to others. Take

advantage of the last two days before Christmas by making this last minute "Do It Together" Gift Idea.

Christmas Treats Gift Box

If you are looking for an easy Christmas gifting idea to get the whole family involved, the Christmas treats gift boxes are perfect for you. We filled our gift boxes with homemade cookies and passed them out to our elderly neighbors, the neighborhood sanitation worker, and the mailwoman. If you do not have the supplies needed there are several alternatives listed below.

.

Supplies Needed

1. Parchment Paper

2. Small Cardboard Boxes

3. *Floral Accents

4. Gift Tag

5. Permanent Marker

6. Ribbon

7. Hot Glue Gun

8. Glue Sticks

9. *Treats

* The floral accents were found at Michael's for $1.49 each with a (60% discount)

* Our treats included gingerbread cookies and sugar cookies. See alternatives below.

Construct the Box

1. Make or buy your treats. If you make your treats, wrap them in a square piece of parchment

paper.

2. Plug in hot glue gun and insert a glue stick.

3. Write your greeting on each gift tag.

4. The boxes come disassembled. Assemble the boxes.

5. Cut strips of 14" - 18" inches of ribbon. You need one strip of ribbon for each box.

6. Place your treats in the box and close the box's lid.

7. Tie the ribbon around the box and in a bow.

8. Hot glue the gift tag and then the floral accent on the top of the box.

(Do not glue the tag or floral accent on to the ribbon. The ribbon is tied around the box and if

you glue those items to it your gift recipient will have a hard time opening the box. Glue the tag

and floral accent towards a back corner of the box, away from where the box flap opens).

Alternatives

Boxes

The boxes are beautiful but if your time is limited use these ideas instead:

1. Use small red and/or green gift bags rather than a cardboard box. Have children decorate the bags with drawings, stickers, or glitter.

2. Wrap treats with left over wrapping paper or the comics section from old newspapers rather than

making boxes. Be sure to cover the treats in parchment paper before wrapping them.

.

Treats

If you do not have time to make cookies from scratch, here are some ideas that will save you

time and are stress free:

1. Buy cookie dough or pre baked cookies from the bakery at your local grocery store

rather than making them from scratch.

2. Trail mix is a nutritional alternative to cookies and can be made at home or purchased in individual serving sizes.

Sincerely,

- Tiffany
